Wild Roe Deer

A very common sight here, Roe deer are quite prolific and no longer have any natural predators. Though quite beautiful to see, given their numbers they can be a bit of a pest grazing in woodlands and farms. It is believed there are more deer in Britain now than for at least 1,000 years. Fortunately they are also very tasty and since they are not farmed at all, probably about the most ethical and environmentally-friendly meat there is! In fact, I think venison must have a negative carbon footprint, as by eating the meat we’ll be saving a lot of trees! A friend shoots them on local farms (as well as ours) and we can supply the meat to our customers.
